Special Saturday Workshops

Special two hour workshop Saturday, September 11th, 1:30pm-3:30pm $25

As yoga has become more and more mainstream in the U.S., the focus has become more centered on the Asana/Poses. However, in traditional yogic theory, the postures are not intended to be an end unto themselves. Instead, the central purpose of one’s yoga practice is to increase self-awareness. Consequently, the yoga postures are a critical means to a very important end: meditation. In this workshop, students will learn how to channel the power of Asana/Poses towards a meditative purpose.

Private lessons  - $75 - approximately one hour

A fitness assessment is done and an individualized program is developed to help the student reach specific goals.  Treat a loved one or yourself to a one-on-one introduction to yoga, improve your skill set or get a yoga tune-up!

What to Bring

  • Yoga mat - in the Silverdale-area you can get them at: Fred Meyer, Target and occasionally TJ Maxx.   Online you get mats and other yoga accessories at: Hugger Mugger
  • Blanket - something to keep yourself warm during relaxation, also a good overall prop
  • An open mind - be ready to try things you didn't know you could do!
  • An empty stomach - do not eat at least two hours before class

Key Benefits

  • Increased breath awareness
  • Increased muscle strength & flexibility
  • Relaxation

Classes usually start and end by chanting "OM".  This is not for religious purposes. Chanting helps center the body and mind before class.  It is also a breathing exercise that helps create strong lungs. "OM" is the ultimate sound, all sounds are in OM and OM is in all sounds. Enjoy the way OM feels when you chant it.  If chanting is not your thing then by all means don't chant!  This is your yoga!

Classes will offer variations for all asanas (postures) for all levels of ability.  Remember - whenever we start yoga in our lives is perfect - no experience or flexibility is required!

All classes end with guided relaxation.
